Take this moment right now to consider, What's your poison? Is it cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine, food, your phone, or Facebook?
If you think one of these is a bad habit of yours, know that a conditioned response in your brain drives the unconscious motivation toward it --- this is what's known as a surge of the pleasure chemical called dopamine, and it doesn't have to enslave you to these habits.
Be on the lookout today for that unconscious pull toward whatever your habit is. When you find yourself in that moment, picture your brain surging with dopamine (which is what's actually happening).
Remember, the moment you stop and notice, you are present. Consider your choices. Think through what it would be like before, during and after engaging in the habit.
