The young brain needs to PLAY! v Your child learns BEST by interacting with YOU and with their everyday world. v Your child’s brain grows very rapidly during the early years and around age 3 begins to prune unused circuitry. This process is repeated in the teen years. v Tasting, touching, smelling, seeing, jumping, running, hearing, talking, laughing – any activity that uses the body develops a healthy brain. v The best recipe for healthy brain growth is interacting with the world in real time -­‐-­‐ healthy brains are not developed when watching screens. v Get outside and PLAY in all kinds of weather! v Consistent attachment to loving caregivers develops healthy brains
