5 quick tips to improve your work life balance Prioritize. Sounds obvious but it is oh so important. What is most important to you? What can be left undone? Where are your time-wasters (we all have them) and can you let them go? In this day and age there are a million things vying for your attention every minute of every day. You need to choose which of those things deserves your attention. Communicate. People aren’t mind readers. It’s up to us to take care of ourselves, and sometimes that means letting those around us know when we are getting overwhelmed and our life is getting out of balance. Practice saying NO. Say it. Say it again. We are talking about quality of life here. If you are one of those that has a hard time with the “N” word, you need to get over it. Say no to taking on new projects, events and commitments. It only takes one more thing on your plate to tip the scale. Attend to your health. Get enough sleep. Exercise. Pamper yourself once in a while. You only have one body, take care of it. Don’t take your family for granted. Unplug regularly and give them your full attention. Seriously. Balance is important, so check in with yourself regularly to make sure your life isn’t getting lopsided
