The Teen Brain...a unique stage...
v The
AREA
of
the
brain
that
INHIBITS
risky
behavior
(along
with
making
judgments
and
forming
opinions)
is
not
fully
formed
in
males
until
the
mid
to
late
20’s.
It
develops
somewhat
earlier
in
females.
v By
most
physical
measures,
teens
should
be
the
BEST
drivers
in
the
world.
After
all,
their
muscles
are
supple,
reflexes
quick,
many
of
their
senses
are
at
a
lifetime
peak.
YET,
car
crashes
kill
more
of
them
than
any
other
cause
-‐
a
problem
that
some
researchers
believe
is
rooted
in
the
still
developing
adolescent
brain.
v ARGUING
may
seem
like
all
you
do
now.
Your
teen
is
actually
growing
his/her
brain
by
taking
different
stances
and
“trying
them
on”...that
means
‘arguing’
with
you.
Stay
neutral
and
curious...
and
know
that
this
will
even
out
as
they
grow
